Alessandra Costanzo, M (99), SM (13), is Professor of electromagnetic fields at the University of Bologna, Italy since 2001. Her main research interests are dedicated to the development of software tools for co-simulation and co-design of circuit-level MIMO and UWB links, including radiating elements and realistic channel models. She has been recently dedicated to develop innovative solutions adopting far- and near-field wireless power transfer technologies for ultra-low power applications, such as the internet of thinks (IoT), and for medium power solutions, such as portable devices recharging. These results have been developed based on theoretical and numerical studies and experimental validations. She is currently supervising five PhD students and she continuously hosts students from allover the world that ask to experience a research period in Prof. Costanzo laboratory. Her research results are and have been constantly recognized internationally by means of publications in peer reviewed Journals, such as IEEE transaction on MTT, AP and IE, several international symposia. Prof. Costanzo is frequently invited speaker in international workshops, focus sections and European schools dedicated to the emerging technologies of wireless power transmission. She is co-funder and MC member of the EU COST action WiPE “Wireless power transfer for sustainable electronics” where she chairs WG1: “far-field wireless power transfer”. She currently has a number of research collaborations with the COST members distributed in several European Countries. She chairs MTT-26 on Wireless Energy Transfer and Conversion and she is MTT representative of the CRIFID. She is TPC member of the IEEE MTT-S IMS, EUMW, WPTC, RFID-TA and ICUWB symposia. Prof. Costanzo is contributor to several books, (co-) author of about 150 international journals and conferences papers and holds three international patents.
